Nars Metallic with Gold Particles

Silent_night-cc

Hey ladies, I have found my eyeshadow dream and my choice for this New Years Eve.  It is bold and gold and only from Nars. I am going to shimmy my way into the New Year and I am going to look fabulous in this Nars eyeshadow with gold particles.  That said, I will have to watch the Queen of Blending for some tips on how to do this look up right.  New Years is on the way and so are we.  Whew hew!

Beauty Retailers are Holding Their Breath

Bush If you don't think that the current economic climate has the major beauty retailers holding their breath for the outcome, think again.  I think the phrase "trickle down economics" holds true for all companies who depend on mainstream people to buy their products and services.  The economic engine is slowing down and we are spending less and taking stock of our needs rather than our wants.  Yes, even those designer shoes and purses are getting a second thought.  In my video on Coach I said "what recession?", but it was intended as a pun and not to be taken seriously. As the jobless rate continues to increase, putting thousands of people out of work it only makes sense that no person or company will be completely exempt from the fallout.  To my surprise even my favorite department store "Macys" will be closing some of their stores to shore up their economic position.  On an up note, companies are starting to do some serious marketing to get consumers into the store to buy their products.  As you have seen, Estee Lauder has really been proactive with sales and free giveaways.  I see more of this from other beauty retailers coming in the future because consumers will need to justify why they spent "X" amount of dollars and they can say "oh, I got a free bag, lipstick, lipliner", etc.   Hopefully, we will see our economy begin to recover and prosper, but right now it doesn't look good.

Bobbi Brown Lipstick No More

Okay, I bought my luscious Bobbi Brown lipstick about a month ago and was wearing it with my MAC Chestnut liner.  Well, I was in class today and putting on just a touch when the whole lipstick fell out.  I have to think that this is an anomaly, because Bobbi is supposed to put out a superior lipstick.  I usually buy MAC and this has never happened before.  I didn't twist it all the way out or bend it so horribly that it fell off.  No, I was just trying to use it. Okay ladies, I have to know whether this has happened to you.  Well, has it?  Do tell.  My future with Bobbi is on the line.

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Potion

Urban decay

I wanted to let you know about the wonderful gift I received during a trip to Ulta. My wonderful little gift was a sample of Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion .  I received it after buying an eyeshadow palette from Ulta.  Being the air bubble that I am some times, I forgot that I had it.  I've been wearing my eyeshadows but of course they are all but gone at the end of the day.  Today being a long day, I decided to use the primer potion and to my surprise, it lasted through the entire day of school, gymnastics and a Harvest Festival.  It lasted until I took it off at 9:00 p.m. This is truly a find and it's a great buy.  If you wear eyeshadow, you have to get  Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion because it is truly worth the $16.00 that it costs. I love this product and will be getting the full bottle as soon as I run out.  It also made the 2008 best of Sephora list, so it must be good.

OMG Piper Palin with A Luis Vuitton Purse

PIPER PALIN $750 lOUIS vUITTON BAG

Hello and greetings everyone.   Is that Piper Palin with a $750.00 Luis Vuitton bag or am I seeing things. Why in the world would mom allow her daughter to be photographed looking like she was part of the up and coming Hilton clan?  Hmmh, mom is doing fabulous with those girls - simply FABU!  Maybe we should vote for McCain.   Maybe we could all get a stimulus package that includes designer handbags and Gucci shades.  Oh yeah and if McCain doesn't make it (God forbid), maybe as President she could get us all gift cards to Saks or Neiman Marcus.  I hear that she has been shopping there as of late and dropping some major bucks (on the RNC of course).  Well, if they don't win the election, the silver lining will be that she gets to keep the clothes.  Ms. Palin, wake up and wise up.  How could you do such a thing when you claim to understand the plight of regular people.

Goodbye Shoe Pavillion

Shoe pavilion

Here we go again with yet another retail giant closing their doors.  The famous shoe store, Shoe Pavilion will be closing all of its stores after 29 years in business.  Folks, this is getting scary.  First Mervyn's, now this. The Shoe Pavilion is known as the largest independent off-price footwear retailer on the West Coast.  They will be closing 64 stores in California, Washington, Oregon and New Mexico.

I am very unhappy about this, but the one bright side of this debacle is that they will be having a going out of business sale that is supposed to be unbelievable.  If you get there before I do, let me know what sort of deals they have.  Sometimes retailers will wait until the last minute to place things at their rock bottom price, so I'm not in any hurry to get there. I am hoping they treat this more like a fire sale.  Folks, this is not good, the economy is in trouble and jobs are disappearing.  I can't believe we are in such a state of financial upheaval.  People are not spending and jobs are disappearing.  Heck, my own wallet is in trouble.  May day, May day!  When will the help come?  Oh yes, it's here  to the tune of $700 billion dollars.  Hmmh, a lot of good it's doing.  Stop crying and go get your shoes.

Sean "Diddy" Combs Buys Enyce

Diddy-w04  P-Diddy-ps03

Oh boy, big shark eats little fish. Or is it big fish tricks little fish into taking the bait. Hmmh, that's my question as I read that Sean "Diddy" Combs has just spent a cool 20 million for the Enyce stores from the super mogul Liz Claibornie companies.  Can you wrap your Coach scarf around that.  Enyce is a hip hop label that was formerly owned by Liz Claiborne, Inc.  Well, quite frankly, I don't see Ms. Claiborne and hip hop in the same sentence, but I guess she was just running with the trends of fashion.   Don't cry for Liz Claiborne Inc.,  because they still have holdings in several other companies, such as; DKNY Jeans,  Lucky Brand Jeans,  Juicy Couture and many others.  I'm not sure what Diddy has planned for Enyce, but is it really a good time to buy a company that is not doing so hot in this economic climate.  If Sean can work that Diddy magic, Enyce is sure to be another money maker for the CEO of Bad Boy Entertainment.

Goodbye Mervyns

Mervyns

On Friday Mervyn's announced that it will be going out of business and liquidating their remaining stores.  This comes at a time when retailers are feeling the financial squeeze tighten, as consumer spending all but comes to a halt.  With Christmas right around the corner, Mervyn's will be liquidating through the holidays.   This is indeed sad because this store has been around for 59 years.  It is yet another sign of an economy that is is deep trouble.    Makes you wonder who will be next.

6 LBS and Counting

Hello everyone.  I decided to skip the video for today because it's Sunday and I am dog tired.  Well, I have lost 6 pounds thus far.  I am happy for the weight loss, but the number should be much bigger, especially since I started 4 weeks ago.  As you will recall my first week of weight loss was two pounds.  I haven't been able to lose more than 6 pounds because I am simply not following a sound nutrition plan.  The idea is to take a holistic approach to weight loss and combine a good exercise program with a proper nutrition.  This week I am going to keep a food journal.  I think it's important to take stock of your daily intake to see where cuts should be made. If you decide to do a journal, you must ensure to account for everything that goes into your mouth, including juice, soda, etc.  I'm very sorry about the video, but look forward to some cool stuff when I figure out how to make the videos simpler an easier to produce.  Take care and have a wonderful week.  I hope that the video I placed will inspire you to reach your goals.

Obama Bucks

First off, TGIF to all. I had a wonderful week and I hope to have an even better weekend, but it sure has started off heated.  Today I returned home from work to hear of an offensive drawing of Obama called "Obama Bucks".   The drawing features Obama with huge donkey ears and includes watermelon, KFC Chicken, Koolaid and ribs.  The drawing was provided compliments of Ms. Diane Fedele of San Bernardino County in Southern California.  She used it in one of her newsletters to a Republican Women's Group.  Her depiction of the "Obama Buck" was full of negative stereotypes used to represent African Americans.   You don't have to be a rocket scientist or card carrying member of the KKK to figure this one out.  Ms. Fedele has indicated that  "it was not racist". Hmmh, that's strange because it begins with "what sort of buck would Obama be on" and then goes on to create every stereotype she could think of as it relates to African Americans.  Both Republicans and Democrats alike have condemned her actions as racist and bigoted.  I guess what I am struggling with is her blatant denial of racism in the face of such an "in your face" attack on Obama.  Ms. Fedele is purported to be the President of a Women's Republican group in San Bernardino County.  She is supposed to be a leader, yet she cries ignorant of the obvious racial tone of the picture.  What in the heck was she trying to do?  Was she trying to unite?  Was she trying to condemn Obama for being African American?    One thing for sure, this fool sure has received her 15 minutes.  She is not fit to be President of the Kennel Club, but yet she serves as the President for this organization.  I wonder what her followers must think? They are probably thinking she's pretty stupid if it took every major news organization, blog and YouTube to inform her that what she did was racist. Way to go bozo.
