After the Friday debacle, we decided to try our luck once again, but only at Macys. Well, now that everything was calmer and more subdued, I felt like shopping and got some great deals at Macys. On Saturday I used my card and got an extra 20% off my purchases. I saved a whopping $48.00 when you add up all my clothes. I was so happy. I then headed off to The Body Shop and got a holiday makeup item. They had the coolest
I hope that all of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday. I had a wonderful time full of food, family and fun. What more can a girl ask for? Well, shopping on Black Friday of course. We tried to prepare for Black Friday by going to bed early, but your body is never ready to wake up at the insane hour of 3:00 a.m. My ride arrived and we picked up some more family members and headed first to Walmart. The Line was wrapped around the corner and seemed to go on for miles. We had the bright idea of standing in front of the store to wait for the line to end. The only problem was that the line never ended and 30 minutes later, we realized it would be a good idea to stand in the line. There were many police men standing at the door and the loud greeter yelling, "don't run". Uh, I had no intention of running, but I'm sure that others did. At Walmart, big screen television sets were coming from all directions. The big sell was the 50" LCD for $798. That's a pretty good deal. Another big hit were the computers and cheap printers. All those suckers who bought the cheap Lexmark printer are going to be so sorry because the ink truly costs more than the printer. Okay, next stop Macy's, which is my favorite department store. Macy's had great deals, but once again, I didn't buy a thing. I just wasn't in the shopping mood. We then headed over to Ontario Mills and Nordstrom Rack. I still didn't buy anything. I wasn't the only one in my group, so shopping was done, but it wasn't by me on Black Friday. When we arrived home we learned that two individuals had been shot somewhere at a Toys R Us and a Walmart employee was trampled to death. Hmmh, the holidays really bring out the best in some folks. That sort of sealed the deal for us to stay away from there. Well, that's it folks, but I took a few pics to share with you.
Last night was the reunion of the hit Bravo television show, "Real Housewives of Atlanta". Although my plans changed and I wasn't able to watch the show with a glass of wine and hot bubble bath, I had the company of my family to make up for the loss. The show started off good with Ne-Ne letting her feelings about Kim shine through like a 5 carat diamond. I thought Ne-Ne was about to rip that wig right off of Kim, but Lisa Hartwell saved the day. During the show, I learned something that I have suspected all along. Most of these women did not know each other prior to the show. Unlike the Housewives of the OC who all live in Cota De Coza and are true friends, this was a made for television union. Oh yes and Did anyone notice how Sheree escaped all the redicule while poor Kim had bruises all over from all the attacks. Kim is super scandalous, but so is Sheree and they both deserved equal time. So, where in the world did Kim come in? Who is this woman and where does her money originate? It can't be from big poppa because they were only together for six months. Oh yes and Greg who was nominated as the sixth Housewife was super fab, with his wig-wearing self. Well, lov'em or hat'em, you must say they are entertaining. ATL is fab and I hope that we can look for another season of the Housewives from the ATL.
The Friday after Thanksgiving is typically a time to get up super early, grab a cup of java and stand in long lines to purchase Christmas dreams, or just fill up your "I want" tank. With the current economy, the Christmas season and Black Friday imparticular is facing what could be a dismal holiday season for sales. In response to an already dwindling bottom line, retailers are pulling out all the stops for the holidays. I have seen a 32" flat screen television for $399 and other amazing doorbusters, all in hopes of getting consumers to loosen their purses. All this at a time when the Dow Jones has reached significant lows and the new President-Elect forecasting more job losses in the millions. As for myself, I am only buying a new toaster and maybe a pair of jeans. Last year at this same time, I purchased an Ipod Touch and a regular Ipod, along with a host of other items. Whatever the case, I will be looking for the best deals and will not be buying any luxury items. Are you shopping on Black Friday and has your spending habits changed as a result of the economy? I would love to know. Drop me a comment.
Well, my show just wrapped up, but the fat lady still hasn't sung, because she's waiting for the reunion show next Tuesday. If you've been watching the divas of the Real Housewives of Atlanta, you are in for an interesting turn of events. It appears that Lisa who typically stays out of drama has had a run in with the blond wig-wearing Kim. Kim allegedly called Lisa a crackhead and also made some comments about Lisa's children. In response, Lisa called Kim and gave her what for and threatened to show up at Kim's door. Kim's lawyer says that he won't allow her to be harrassed and they are thinking of filing a law suit. Poor Kim, she has made such a complete farse out of herself with her so-called "Big Poppa". Well, that's another thing, "Big Poppa" and Kim have parted ways. Oh, what shall she do? He was putting out some serious money. Do you have his phone number? Just kidding. I bet his wife found out and........well, you know the rest - SCANDALOUS. I am looking forward to next Tuesday. A hot bath, nice candles, glass of wine and my girls from the ATL. Yep, that's how we do it. Take care and let me know what you think about the show.
This is Tamaik who is also known as the "The Last Dragon" or kung fu master if you will. I had an incurable crush on Taimak when he played in the movie, The Last Dragon as the handsome and shy, Leroy. Years later, he is now training celebrities like Madonna in the field of Marshal Arts. He's doing big things and I was so happy to hear that he's still around. You can check out his website at http://www.taimak.tv/. Taimak has some great exercise tips and I'll make sure to put them on the blog. Exercise just got a little more fun!!!
Part of the beauty of going to spas and getting those facials and much needed pedi and mani's is the whole idea of being pampered. Yes, we all want to be treated like royalty and we deserve it after a long week of work. Well, as of late, I have had to face the economic reality that I will have to temporarily become a DIY of beauty. I know, it's a crime, but it's going to save me some money. For instance, just this evening, I did my hair with a wonderful outcome and saved a whopping $50.00. I also gave myself a mini-facial and saved $75.00. Yes, I actually do use the lemon and sugar scrub and it costs me nothing but a trip downstairs to the pantry and refrigerator. Talk about smooth and beautiful. My skin looks great and I haven't seen an esthetician in months. Now that said, as soon as finances are better, I will be breaking down the doors to Lady Dee's for a full facial and skin peel. Yes, my day will arrive, but until then, I don't mind being the DIY of beauty. Oh yes and if you're going to the spas, please pay attention, because you never know when you'll need to do it yourself.
Now that the recession is in a bit of a slump, I have been receiving offers that are almost too good to turn down. Last week, The Body Shop offered free shipping with a $15.00 purchase, yes $15.00. I had to look twice because it usually requires that you spend $50.00 before shipping is free. Not to mention all of the other freebies, or buy one get one free ads I have been receiving. I sure wish they would have offered this when times were good. I would definitely have taken the bait. For now, I am in a holding status with the rest of the country and I have to wait and see what happens. Well, if that Juicy Couture purse comes down....yes, the big, black one with the beautiful gold accents, I will have to head straight to the Couture store and get it. If the price goes down, it means it's okay to buy it - right? Hopefully things won't get much worse, but if they do, go out and get yourself something nice....you deserve it! Life will go on and time will heal.
Carol's Daughter has a new fragrance called Pearls which is simply intoxicating. I have long been a fan of their products and now they go and add a perfume to their already splendiforous line of products. As you may remember, I wrote about their Love Butter, which is definitely a fav of mine. I am absolutely thrilled about this perfume and can't wait to add it to my collection. I love the packaging, the smell.....it's just the total package. It's sensual, yet soft and it's not too sweet. It's the perfect scent for every woman. You can get your Pearls by Carol's Daughter at http://www.carolsdaughter.com.
