Minx Nails - Perfect Everytime

There is a new trend in nail fashion, which is taking the celebrity world by storm.  What is this new trend you say?  Well they are called Minx nails and they are sure to replace the way we used to have nails done.  It is a dry applique that is individually placed on each finger and it shrinks to the nail with the application of heat.  This means, no bad smell,  no smudging, bruising, chipping or begging for your nail technician to do that nail over, because you tried to pick up your purse too soon.  Now, don't get too happy because Minx nails are considered high-end and they have the price tag to prove it.  The cost of the application ranges from $50.00-$80.00 per session.  Maybe not appropriate for every nail visit, but certainly for special occasions. 

Real Housewives of Orange County Reunion

 

I just wrapped up watching season 4 of the “Housewives of Orange County.”   The finale was quite the shocker.  Well, let me preface this by saying, if you haven’t been watching the Real Housewives of Orange County, this post will be absolute rubbish to you.  This season was full of ups and downs as Jeanna decided it was time to move on and start dating again, and Gretchen trying to handle the illness of her fiance, Jeff who was battling cancer.   The reunion was going quite striking until Tamra in her very snooty way told the entire television viewing audience that some guy named Jay was calling her home and purported to be Gretchen's boyfriend.  She also said that Jay told her that Jeff was paying Gretchen to take care of him.  Gretchen handled herself well and denied the accusations of Jay being her boyfriend.  She stated that he is merely a close friend.  I'm not sure why Tamra was fighting mad about it, but I think I saw fumes coming out of her head. They even stooped so low as to say that this guy's clothing was in Gretchen's closet.   Mrs. Jeanna provided them with that detail.....How low can you go.   I think that Vicky and Tamra have low or no class, or they are just clueless on the merits of friendship and empathy.  I also think they are jealous to death of Gretchen.   If Jeff was paying her take care of him, he is now deceased and cannot defend these allegations.  Who care anyway.  If that was his dying wish, then so be it.  Gretchen is sticking by her story and didn't give much credence to Tamra's itch fit.  Bottom line is, Tamra looked pretty foolish, because she thought she had a bomb shell, but it was more like an Alka Seltzer fizz - plop, plop.   Other than that, I thought it was quite boring.  Oh yes, Lynn is quite a basket case.  She started crying out of nowhere.  It was just a little weird.  They also cornered her about the underage drinking and she again defended her position.  She really is a bit clueless.  Well, the show wrapped up with Lauri indicating that Josh has two more days in the big house.  She's guarded about his return, but optimistic.  Oh yes, Jeanna is still dating her guy, but she says that he is "geographically undesireable."  I hope that Jeanna can leave her baggage at the gate, because she was treating that poor guy really bad on the last show. It reminded me of how Vicky treats Don (ugghh!).   Well, that's it for this season.  Now, go forth and be a happy housewife, or just be happy!

Don't Look a Gift Horse in the Mouth

This morning while watching "Meet the Press", I saw the governor of Louisiana, Bobby Jindal who has indicated that he will refuse to accept part of the stimulus money that is earmarked for his state.  I couldn't believe my ears, because I was in New Orleans two years ago, and they were still suffering horribly from the after effects of Hurricane Katrina.  Turn down money.  Is he crazy, or is he doing some horrible political posturing for his Republican friends.  He indicated that he was turning down some of the money because it comes with too many strings attached. Well, when you're given something that you haven't earned, because you're in financial chaos, it typically comes with strings attached - go figure.  Hmmh, I wonder what his constituents would say?  I bet the citizens of New Orleans wouldn't mind taking the millions of dollars off his hand.  The mayor of New Orleans, Ray Negin has already indicated that he would happily take any monies that the governor turns down.  You know the saying, "Don't look a gift horse in the mouth."  I think that gratitude is in order, because Louisiana has an expected 1.6 billion dollar shortfall next year.  We'll file this one under political posturing.

Oscar Madness

Am I the only one who cares about the Oscars only in relation to what the celebrities are wearing?  I have a confession.  I don't actually watch the Oscars, but I love to see the stars arriving and predicting who will make the best and worst dressed picks.  Let's see some of my favorites.

 

 This dress says class in every way.  I love it and it it my favorite of the evening.  Angelina Jolie is so pretty and she looks fabulous.  How many kids has she had?  No belly pooch anywhere in sight. 

 

This is Virginia Hall wearing Kevin Hall.  This dress is red hot!

 

Taraji P. Henson, wearing Roberto Cavalli.  You really can't go wrong with Cavalli.  His taste is refined and elegant.  She looks fantastic. 

 

Alicia Keys in Armani.  This dress is soooo beautiful.  The color is elegant and the design is refined with a sexy split down the side. 

Kate Winslet wearing Yves Saint Laurent. Beautiful dress that fits like a glove. The contrast of fabric on the side adds a nice touch.  I'm not sure what's up with the black hearts, but I like the dress.  It reminds me of old Hollywood.

   

Nancy O'Dell.  Not sure of the designer, but the dress is breathtaking. 

And now, some of my least favorites.

This has got to be the ugliest dress ever.  I know that I used to have a bedspread with that pattern.  How dreadful!

This dress is just plain ugly.  I hope she didn't shell out too much for it, because if Blackwell were alive today, guess which side her dress would be on.   I mean, the whole mermaid thing is old and dated.  Maybe if it weren't white, there would be hope, but it's ugly and the back isn't any better.  It laces like all the way down the back like a corset - ick.

Okay, here's another secret.  If I could fit any one of those dresses, I would wear them happily.  Well, not the bedspread. That's just taking things a bit too far.  Anyway, I hope that you enjoyed the Oscars, or at least the celebrity fashion.  I've told you my favorites.  I would love to know yours.

Madea Goes to Jail

Hello everyone and how yer durin.  Yes, you guessed it, I saw Madea Goes to Jail today.  I laughed so hard, my eyes were about to pop.  Madea is a certified nut.  Yep, just ask Dr. Phil.  He certainly earned his check by dealing with her.  She takes no mess and isn't afraid to stand up to anyone, but she also has a soft side that wants to help people.  Tyler Perry is ultra talented and has brought Madea full circle as the law finally catches up with her.  She's put in jail and the laughs are endless.  If you know Tyler Perry's works, he does not expect you to leave without some underlying message of hope, forgiveness and redemption.   Oh yes, and he always makes sure that that the bad guy gets it.  In Madea Goes to Jail, Keysha Knight Pulliam plays a role that is quite a stretch from little Rudy on the Cosby Show.  She is a prostitute with a really bad attitude, who is need of help.  Keysha is transitioning well into an adult actress and I hope to see her in more roles.  I give Tyler Perry's movie an 8 and if you're in need of some laughter, this is a must see. 

Note - Critics are always hard on Tyler Perry's movies, but that shows their inability to appreciate different genres of film.   Thank goodness we don't listen to their closed minds, or we would miss out on the Madea experience. 

Beeline's Getting a Facelift

Hey everyone, I have grown tired of the look of Beeline2beauty and feel that it's time for a change.  I custom designed the header, but I just feel bored when I look at it.  I get that way sometimes.  Well, you're going to see a new blog design in a couple of weeks.  Something with a bit more flair and pizzaz.  My current design falls short.  I am proud that I was able to customize it, but as with many things, it's time for a change.  If you come here one day and see some different colors, images, fonts, etc., don't freak out.  We're just getting a much needed facelift.  Oh yes, I will be doing it myself, so it may take a little longer.  Thank all of you who have been so faithful in reading the blog and commenting.  I can't thank you enough.

Premature Crows Feet

Have you ever looked in the mirror and noticed visable signs of aging.  Well, recently, I have noticed my eyes aging.  I don't notice this on anyone around me, which I can't quite wrap my head around.  The particular problem is with the corners of my eyes.  They seem to have lost their youth and vitality, which translates into - wrinkles.    Well, they are fine until I smile, and then they seem to want to smile along with me by creating awful, extended wrinkles on the sides.  Hey, I'm not old enough for such things yet.  Boy, if it's not time for some PS (plastic surgery), I don't know what time it is.  This is simply awful.  One thing I have done over the years is taken fantastic care of my face, including my eyes.  I mean, the best of the best creams and lotions, potions, witch doctors - you name it.  Okay, no witch doctors, but an arsenal of help.  I feel betrayed.  Your eyes can tell your age without you uttering a word - yikes!   So, now it's time to get a great anti-aging cream for the eyes, but with so many on the market, which one  is best and will do the trick.  Everyone touts their $100.00 plus anti-aging creams as being the best and most potent, but you can't sell me on a bill of goods with no proof.  I need research and percentages.  If you say you have glycolic in your product, what percentage.  If you have emu oil, how much?  I am on a mission to save my eyes, and I promise when I find the magic bullet, I will certainly share it with you.  Oh wait, maybe you have already found it.  If so, can you please share it with me.  Make sure it's something that you have tried and you are more than pleased with the outcome.   The search begins now.

Essence Festival 2009 - OMG Anita Baker

A couple of days ago, I watched the BET Honors and had the pleasure of seeing Mrs. Anita Baker.  Now, I'm not sure if you know her, but her voice is so beautiful, melodic and full of jazz and pizzaz.  I was awestruck by her presence and her soulful vocals. She did a presentation for Mary J. Blige and it was nothing less than fabulous.   She's been away for a while, but she is going to perform at this year's Essence Music Festival in New Orleans. I now have a serious reason to save and try to jump on the 2009 Essence bandwagon, because this year is sure to be nothing less than spectacular.  Along with Anita Baker, there is a long laundry list of performers, such as; Beyonce, Salt N Pepa, Al Green, Teena Marie, Maxwell, Solange, Eric Benet, Raphael Saddiq, Lala Hathaway and many, many more.  The food alone would be worth the trip...oops, I'm not supposed to say that, but seriously, they have the best seafood restaurants around.  I haven't decided whether I'm going, but it's a definite maybe. 

Happy Valentines Day

Hello and happy Valentines day to all of you love birds.  Today is sure to help the economy, as people run for those last minute, flowers, cards and candy.  For those of you who don't have a Valentine, there is always next year.   For those of you who do have a Valentine, and don't receive so much as a card, be afraid, be very afraid.  Valentines Day is a special day and a wonderful time to show your special gal or guy how much you care for them.  It doesn't have to be carried out with the grandeur of champagne and diamonds (although that would be awesome).  An elegant, homecooked meal, made from the heart would do just as well.  And remember, we are in a recession.  Many people have lost homes, jobs and INCOME.  Small gestures should go a long way in today's economy.  Don't be so quick to think , "me, me, me, I didn't get what I wanted  ."  If you received a gift of any sort, be happy and gracious.  Don't be a holiday hogger, because when things get back to normal, Valentine's day and all of it's splendor will  reign again.  Now, go and be loved.

The Price of Perfection

The price of beauty can truly be deadly. First we have Kanye West' mother dying during a procedure, and last weekend Usher's wife, Tameka goes into cardiac arrest in a Brazilian hospital, as she is preparing to have liposuction on her stomach. Tamika's situation was grave, and she was induced into a coma, which in my book is serious to the extreme.  According to the doctor's, this is standard procedure when incident's happen to ensure that everything is okay.   I am not against plastic surgery in any way, but it certainly isn't worth risking your life or health.   Tamika's body is still recovering from giving birth to her last child, which was only two months ago.  Perhaps she should have allowed further time for healing.  I think her choice for Brazil to have the procedure was based on privacy, but now the whole world knows.  There is so much pressure on body image and perfection, and in entertainment the pressure is increased exponentially.   Ladies, get all the lipo you want, but make sure that you're healthy, and you're doing it for Y-O-U!
