I think by now, my readers know that I am a true, die hard, Michael Jackson fan, so it should be no surprise that I was compelled to see the movie, "This is It" on opening night. Although I didn't get to go to Hollywood or Burbank with the other die hard fans, I didn't need to, because the movie grabs you from start to finish and never let's go. It was more than a movie, it was an experience. It was a small glimpse into the ingenuity and creativity of the greatest entertainer the world will ever know. The show Michael planned was going to be different, and it was going to be very BIG. From wonderful ballads to Smooth Criminal which uses footage from Humphrey Bogart, and combines it with Michael Jackson green screened video to produce awesome special effects, I was blown away. They remade Thriller into a 3D viewing experience, complete with glasses. The "This Is It" concert was going to take the audience to another level, and raise the bar for concerts. They combined different technological mediums to give you a 360 degree experience. If the movie was that good, I can only imagine what it would have been like to be at the concert. I saw a side of Michael that I had never seen before: the perfectionist, the kind soul, and of course, the boss. Although he was a perfectionist, he was also patient and kind with his employees. The movie was done tastefully, without much focus on his death. However, at the end of the movie, you wish there were more, but "This Is It." I give the movie a 9, and say it's a must see.
