So, I broke down on Saturday and took my 12 year old daughter to the movie, "Paranormal Activity." I did not want to see the movie, because I heard it was made with only 11,000 dollars, which meant "low budget" and probably not very good. Oh, was I wrong. The premise of the movie was a couple had some weird happenings in their home, and the boyfriend, Micah decides to put up a video camera to record them sleeping each night. The camera is always rolling, and we get to see the interesting things that transpire as they sleep. We have all heard things that go bump in the night, but in Paranormal Activity, your heart is racing because you can identify with some of the sounds heard in the house, and the general questioning of where they are coming from in your home. I always blame it on the home settling. I typically do not like anything shot in one or two locations, but this is the first time that it was acceptable to me. In my movie reviews, I don't give anything away, because it will take away your enjoyment of the movie, but I do tell you my opinion and whether you should see it. If you are a scary movie buff, this is right up your alley. My daughter loved the movie and when she returned home, she was on the internet looking up information. I must also say that this is not a home experience. I think the movie can be viewed best in the theatre where there is lots of interaction among patrons. You can also see the fear of of other moviegoers, first hand. You could see people crunching in their seats, because they were scared to death, and wondering what would happen next. Not to mention the end, which was realllllly scary. Go see it with someone you can clutch onto. On a rating scale of 1 to 10, I would give this movie a 7+, which is pretty good.
